home : about

The Newfoundland dog entered our lives in 1970. We produced our first litter in 1973 (ShipshapeXNewfield) - Newfs with excellent health & longevity. One male, Rajean, lived until he was 17! We raised our four children, John, Andrew, Natalie & Ingrid along with our Newfs. We participated in limited showing, water work, and rescue. We now have five grandchildren, David, Ashley, Lilly, Breyden & Lola, who are now being introduced to the magic of the Newfoundland.

Our family experienced many life-altering changes during the year, 2008.

Our beloved husband & father, Fred passed away unexpectedly to sudden cardiac arrest. The loss has been devastating. Thanks to our  dear friends, many of our animals were placed, while we attempted to rebuild our lives. Presently Amy has been traveling from the Maine ranch, now a vacation retreat, to New Hampshire, Florida & Virginia. The Newfs Gus and Freya, along with an older Saint Bernard, Naomi, also travel along. Elvis is at Homeport Newfoundlands, in Canada. Olivia & Flicka are at Mukota Newfoundlands in New Hampshire. Freddi is at Sun Valley Newfoundlands, and Mister Christian & Holly are at By The Creek Newfoundlands in Canada. We also lost two very special dogs this winter, old-timers, but so cherished: Ivan, the Saint and Arabella.

As we rebuild our lives and our breeding program, we now are beginning to look forward to some very exciting litters in the future.

If interested in a puppy, please check for availability. We can also direct you to well-established breeders that might have a litter. We screen our dogs for many genetic diseases, and strive to produce the lovely temperament that is the hallmark of the breed. We strongly feel it is important to breed for TYPE. We follow the written standard, established by the Newfoundland Club of America. We offer a written contract, and warrenty our Newfs for hips and hearts.

The Newf breed is not for everyone; however, we attempt to place our puppies in qualified homes. We ask people to properly research the breed, beginning with the Newfoundland Club of America. Our pups are registered on a limited basis with the AKC. We are proud members of the Newfoundland Club of America (Breeder's List), Newfoundland Club of Canada, Atlantic Canada Newf Club, Coastal Crescent Kennel Club, Italian Newfoundland Club (SAT), Clumber Spaniel Club of America & and the Saint Bernard Club of America.
